Coaching

Shaun Andrews BMX coach

Even the most talented, gifted riders need pointing in the right direction sometimes.

Our experienced BMX Coaches are qualified up to a level 2 British Cycling BMX certification. Not only do they hold DBS Enhanced Certificates and First Aid qualifications, but they also have decades of practical, first hand racing experience themselves.

Whether you are a complete novice or aspiring champion they can help you reach your goals and have fun getting there! Our Coaches can furnish you or your child with the confidence and skills required to take to the track safely as a total beginner. Or they can help an aspiring intermediate get to the next level and make the step up from Regional to National level racing and beyond.

Coaching sessions for Club members take place on selected Tuesday evening during the summer months and Saturdays throughout the year. The Club is able supply quality full face helmets and gloves for new riders as well as limited selection of hire bikes.

IBMXC Members coaching sessions

Members coaching will be split into four ability groups for Saturday sessions, please identify your group before booking via Spond or relevant online form. See our Calendar >  for session details.

Intro to BMX session. This is the session for you if you’re new to the club/BMX coaching, with the aim to familiarise yourself with the track, bike and general environment. Riders may ride in this group as many times as required.

The Fundamental Development session will be for all new members and younger riders looking to learn the basic skills following a successful completion of the introduction session.

Our Core Development session will run for those with some race experience that can confidently demonstrate the fundamental techniques of cornering, wheel lifts and basic jumping (tabletops).

Advanced riders are also welcome to this session when no Advanced Development session is running.

Finally the Advanced Development session is aimed at developing rider skills above and beyond RSR level riders to be competitive at national level and beyond. Riders must have met all the goals of the Core Development session to be eligible for this  session.

If you would like to know/understand more a detailed guide can be found here > and in the clubhouse.
