Ipswich BMX Club proudly hosted British Cycling’s BMX East, Regional Championships yesterday at our newly reconstructed Landseer Park track. Work continues involving the clubhouse and the general infrastructure around the track and will progress in the coming months, despite already being in a position to stage such a great event.
190 competitors took part, each battling it out for their classes coveted 01.3 plate. The new track aided some fantastic racing, with lots of passing in the turns and some close finishes.
Congratulations to those riders who achieved their goals and commiserations to those who came up short or hit the deck.
IBMXC would like to say a massive thank you to all those who gave up their time to make the event happen, from the hard working volunteers from the club itself to the regional commissaires and everyone in between!
As is tradition with the Regional Champs the climax of day was the world renowned relay race… Apparently won by Braintree because no one else cheated enough!
Despite the blowy conditions and the claps of thunder during the awards presentation the rain stayed away for the duration of the event.
IBMXC will hold round 4 of the BMX East Winter Regional series on Sunday January 9th and we can't wait to see you there!
