Despite being in the depths of January Ipswich BMX Club has been working feverishly, planning for the year ahead.
The great news is that we have plenty of BMX action lined up in 2022. BMX East has been kind enough to offer us two Summer Regional races this year. We drop the gate on with the series opener at Landseer Park on Sunday 6th March and host the series finale on Sunday 7th August. British Cycling Silver membership and transponders are a requirement for this series.
Join us every Tuesday evening from March 29th until September 27th for practice, coaching and racing. Please keep checking Calendar for exact details. Coaching is subject to availability and must be booked in advance.
Our own Go-Ride Summer Series returns after a two year absence due to Covid-19 and our track rebuild. The best 5 from 7 rounds will count towards your overall standing. Race a minimum of 5 rounds to qualify for an award. Entry is £3 per round for IBMXC members. Riders from other British Cycling affiliated clubs welcome, entry £5. Round one is on Tuesday 12th April. Registration closes at 6.30pm. Transponders will not be required. Hot and cold drinks will be available trackside! Please make yourself known at the clubhouse if you can help out on the evening with marshalling, finish line etc. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Don’t forget there’s lots’ going on before we even make it to the summer. This Saturday 22nd January we continue with our coaching sessions for the Advanced, Core and Fundamental development groups. There’s more coaching at the track during half term too, see our Calendar for further information. On Saturday 5th February we hold the fourth round of our 2021/22 Winter Series followed by a work party to make improvements to our clubhouse and track. If you feel you have the skills to help out and assist with these improvements please let a member of the committee know or have a chat with us if you can help another time.
The fifth and final round of our members only Winter Series is on Saturday 6th March. This will be immediately followed by the trophy/medal presentation. Remember you need to race four rounds to qualify for an award/score maximum points and we have some great trophies lined up for the top three riders in each formula.
